SERGT. H. HOOPER

SHENLEY MAN’S DISTINCTION

Sergt. Herbert Hooper of the Army Ordnance Corps, youngest son of Mr. R. Hooper, Assistant Overseer for Shenley and Ridge, has been mentioned in despatches for gallant conduct and distinguished services, by the Commander-in-chief of the British Salonica Force. He joined the Army in the autumn of 1914, and after serving some months in France, was transferred to Salonica where he is still serving.

After the war he became a Police Officer, eventually taking on the role with The Crown Agents for the Colonies as a Police Sub Insp Brother of Edgar Frank Hooper who died in service on 19 Nov 1918, recorded on the Shenley Village Memorial
