Walter Robert Fuller was born in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, on 21st June 1891, son of Albert Fuller a, Gardener, and Emma Elizabeth Fuller (nee Walduck). One of ten children, although one died in infancy.


His parents were married in Cheshunt, Herts, on 21st February 1882.


He was Baptised in the Parish of Cheshunt, Herts, on 27th September 1891.


1901 Census records Walter aged 9, living with his parents, five brothers and two sisters at, 5 Stockwell Lane, Cheshunt, Herts.


1911 Census records Walter, working as a Farm Labourer, living with his parents, four brothers and sister Mary (10) at, 1 Eveline Cottages, Flamstead End, Cheshunt, Herts.


His father Albert died on 29th January 1918.

Wartime Service

Walter enlisted at Cheshunt, Herts on 9th September 1914, he gave his age as 23, Occupation a Labourer and his address, 1 Evelyn Cottages, Flampstead End, Cheshunt, Herts, posted to the 8th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment, with the service number 16712, joining them at Bedford, on 12th September 1914. He was admitted to hospital on 6th October 1914, from Shoreham Army Camp, Sussex. He was discharged Physically unfit for war service under Kings Regulations Para 392 (xvi), on 8th April 1915. Awarded the Silver War Badge, No. 32301, on 16th February 1917.


He died of his illness on 12th November 1918. His death was registered in Edmonton, Middlesex, the location of his grave was not found.

Additional Information

He is not recorded in The CWGC records as he died after his discharge from the Army and his death was not war related. He was not entitled to a medal as he did not serve overseas.


His brother Private 41513 Herbert Charles Fuller on the 6th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment, was Killed in Action on 8th April 1918, aged 19.
