Son of David and Ruth Helen (nee MIDDLETON) WATERHOUSE of Watford.


His parents married 1887 in the Worksop, Notts, district. David died 4 April 1926 in Oxhey, Herts, aged 68, and was buried 8 April in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Ruth died 27 May 1936  in Watford aged 72, and was buried 30 May, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.


Was schooled at Watford Grammar School between January, 1898, to July, 1906.


On the 1901 Census, the family he lived in Watford, with his parents and five siblings. 

Wartime Service

Lieutenant, British South African Police, Service Column, Northern Rhodesian Regiment. Served all through the campaigns in German South-West Africa and German East Africa.


Mentioned in despatches, 30th September, 1918, "for gallant and distinguished service in the Field.",


Died in Gwelo, Rhodesia, on 6th February, 1921, of Black-water Fever, contracted on war service.

The published Watford Grammar School Book of Remembrance entry reads:

"WATERHOUSE, DAVID STANLEY. School period: January, 1898, to July, 1906. Lieutenant, British South African Police, Service Column, Northern Rhodesian Regiment. Served all through the campaigns in German South-West Africa and German East Africa. Mentioned in despatches, 30th September, 1918, "for gallant and distinguished service in the Field." [Has since died at Gwelo, Rhodesia, on 6th February, 1921, of Black-water Fever, contracted on war service.]"
