Biography

He has no known grave but is remembered on Column 29 of the Alamein Memorial to the Missing.


He was born in North London and resided in Hertfordshire. He attended Hitchin Grammar School from I 928-1931 and after securing his School Certificate went into the insurance business. His spare time activities included scouting. 


He joined the Territorial Army before the outbreak of war and went to the Middle East in 1941 with the 4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) Royal Armoured Corps his Service Number being 7892830. During the withdrawal of that year, he was promoted to Serjeant. Later at or near the El Alamein line he received wounds from which he did not recover. 


He has no known grave but is remembered on Column 29 of the Alamein Memorial to the Missing. 


He was the son of Mr W. H. and Mrs H. G. Crouch of Welwyn Garden City.
