Biography

He had joined the RAF. at the age of fifteen and had spent more than five years overseas. His Service Number was 364803. In October 1940 he was Mentioned in Despatches by Air Chief Marshall Sir Charles Portal! for gallant and distinguished services and at that time he was promoted to Flight Serjeant


He was a wireless operator/air gunner in 21 Squadron and at the time of his death was training in a Blenheim IV V5463 YH-?. He had taken off at 11.08hrs from Watton but the aircraft stalled and crashed into a hangar whereupon the aircraft burst into flames. Tue crew of three were killed and three others in the hangar were killed or injured. 


He is buried in Hitchin Cemetery west extension Grave 746. 


He was the son of Mark and Ethel Hall and the husband of Elsie C. Hall. He and his wife lived at 13, South Place, Westmill, Hitchin having married in September 1939. They had a baby daughter.
