*1 Currently we have insufficient information to positively identify this soldier. The St Albans Cathedral Diocese records give his name as E A Welmam, suggests a connection to Hemel Hempstead and that he was a Rifleman in the London Regiment. These records, separately, also list a Ernest A Wellman, who was a Rifleman in the London Regiment, as no candidate has yet been found for E A Welman, it is considered possible that he is a duplication of Ernest, but this is not proven.
