Pre War
*1 Currently we have insufficient information to positively identify this soldier. The St Albans Cathedral Diocese records give his name as C A Stambridge, suggests a connection to Hertford and that he was an Acting Bombardier in the Royal Regiment of Artillery (Royal Field Artillery). Although this man has not yet been found, because of the similarity in name, rank and service unit, it does seem likely that the name is intended to commemorate Charles Frederick Stambridge who has an association with Hertford and was an Acting Bombardier in the Royal Garrison Artillery.
