Terry Cox - "Queen Victoria Hospital"
The Talk: Terry will talk us through the displeasure of Queen Victoria that hospital facilities for her soldiers in the Crimea War were inadequate, the design and building of the biggest and 'bestest' military hospital in the whole world, its rather unfortunate opening ceremony, its facilities that never actually worked, through its massive hutted expansion in the Great War, its role in World War II and its rather sad subsequent demise via Alice in Wonderland.
About the Speaker: Terry is a Great War enthusiast and battlefield guide for over twenty years
Tickets: Entry is free but we rely totally on donations to cover our costs! - Hall, speaker, drink etc. We suggest £5 per person - or whatever you can afford. You do not need to book to attend, but it would help us if you did (i.e. hall preparation and refreshments etc.).
